Mission

Profit Improvers Ltd strives to provide the most effective and most straightforward, non-bureaucratic tools for improving the performance of people, so that the:

• people themselves feel motivated, competent and productive;
• teams, departments and alliances of which they are part can achieve their objectives without unnecessary struggle and stress;
• organisations which employ them, achieve their long-term profits targets;

and to do this in ways which helps people become independent problem-solvers for their own and their organisations' longer term benefit.

Profit Improvers Ltd is based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The Company was registered on 5th November 1999 (Company No: 201369) and grew from the work of Dr Bill Robb who since 8th November 1993 as William Robb Consultants served a wide range of Oil and Gas, Engineering and Education clients in Scotland, England, Norway and Holland.

Dr Bill Robb's background

• Born 8th February 1952 in Dumbarton, Glasgow, United Kingdom. Emigrated in 1957 with parents to Southern Rhodesia, as it was then, now Zimbabwe. Military service in the Rhodesian Air Force during 1970-71.
• Graduated BSc Agricultural Economics (Hons) University of Rhodesia in 1974.
• Employment as Agricultural Economics Officer, Ministry of Agriculture and Executive Officer, Cattle Producers Association, National Farmers' Union, in Salisbury (1974 - 1976).
• Tutor and Junior Lecturer, School of Economics, University of Cape Town (1976 - 1980). Was given the task of helping failing students and became so fascinated with the complexities of teaching and learning, changed careers and undertook training in education to became an educator.
• Editor, The Star newspaper's education programme, Johannesburg (1981 - 1983). Developed writing skills and the ability to express complex matters in easy to understand and entertaining style.
• Published/edited, The Owl (a bilingual, national education newspaper with 80 000 circulation), Johannesburg (1983 - 1985). Extensive liaison with advertisers, educationists and government officials.
• Returned to Scotland in 1985 and lectured in Adult and Continuing Education in the University of Glasgow (1985 - 1990). Responsible for designing, co-ordinating, marketing, and facilitating management training programmes for Industry, Commerce and the Professions. Enjoyed assisting engineers from the electrical, mechanical and civil sectors to develop management and communication skills.
• Graduated with a Diploma in Tertiary Education from the University of South Africa (1984) and with an MEd (1989).
• Moved with family to Aberdeen to take up post as Chief Executive of the Gordon Cook Foundation. (1990 - 1993). Major strategic role to promote aims of the charitable Foundation at senior levels in Education and Government and to advise Trustees. Monitoring over 60 projects.
• Graduated PhD from the University of Glasgow (1993). Examined the way students (studying for university and professional examination) interpret essay exam questions and devised a more effective interpretation model.
• Started William Robb Consultants in 1993 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Management consultancy with large and medium size firms in the Oil and Gas, Engineering and Education Sectors. A wide range of services for improving the performance of people, teams and departments, especially after merger and during alliances.
